80mm Naval Cannon

From Sand Wiki
An 80mm Shell

The 80mm Naval Cannon is a Mounted Weapon that can be installed on to a Trampler's weapon mount points. It comes in four variants and offers accurate, long range, high damage attacks which reward good aim in exchange for lower dps than other mounted weapons.

The cannon can only fire a single 80mm Shell at a time and must be reloaded after every shot. The time needed to reload the cannon is rather long, effectively limiting the weapon's rate of fire behind it's reload speed. Higher tier cannons benefit from an improved reload speed over their lower tier counterparts, which in turn cause them to deal higher dps though a higher rate of fire.

The cannon is very accurate and excels at long and medium range combat, making it well suited to sniping specific components on another trampler. Good aim is required to land shots at longer ranges however as the shells will aggressively arc down due to gravity after being fired. Additionally, mobile combat with other tramplers can easily throw off shell ballistics and cause the weapon to miss entirely. This can be offset by a skilled gunner who is able to place their shots accurately and consistently, and will allow them to disable critical components of another trampler at longer ranges than other mounted weapons.

The cannon is effective at any range, but struggles at closer ranges relative to other mounted weapons that outperform it at these ranges.

Experimental 80mm Naval Cannon

Retrofitted in the Neue Zukunft laboratories with an electromagnetic accelerator. It consumes a huge amount of energy, but allows you to forget about ballistics - even standard 80 mm shells receive such a high initial velocity that the cannon literally shoots "on target" at any distance.
