Items

From Sand Wiki
Mechanical parts as they are displayed in-game mid expedition.

Items are the various objects that the player can find and collect while out on expedition. All items are assigned a type that groups like-items together and inform the player as to their general purpose. Ammunition is used by Weapons, Raw Materials are useful for crafting, etc.

These types are:

In addition to types, all items have a rarity assigned to them: Common, Uncommon, and Rare. These rarities indicate the relative rarity of an item and how difficult it will be to come across. It also informs the player of the rarity of Loot Containers that the item is expected to be found in, but this is not a hard and fast rule and more of a generalization (Normal containers may contain a mix of common and uncommon items while rarer containers may include additional and/or rarer items).

Items collected by the player are carried around in the players inventory. Items come in two sizes: small and medium. An item can only fit into an item slot big enough for the item. The player's inventory contains a mix of small and medium item slots, although the player's medium item slots are reserved for specific pieces of gear and equipment, namely: Weapons, Armor, and Backpacks. Almost all other items in the game are able to fit into the small item slots in the players inventory.

to be moved - There are also a few special pieces of gear that all players have access to thanks to them being permanent additions to their inventory.

Outside of the players inventory, almost all items are able to fit into both standard and locked Crates as they contain medium and large item slots respectively. Items may also be moved out of inventory locations and dropped onto the ground at any time.

Items can be stacked up to a certain size depending on the item and the size of the item slot they are stored in. Small items inside the players inventory generally have very small stack sizes, only fitting a single item in some cases. Comparatively, small items inside crates have stack sizes several times larger than those inside the players inventory (locked crates further increase the stack size due to their large item slots). Medium items do not stack with each other and take up the full inventory slot regardless of where they are stored. For long term storage while on expedition, it is much more space efficient for players to store items inside crates on their Tramplers cargo racks than on their person.

Extra-large items(name pending) also exist, although these objects are too large to fit into any inventory slot, and instead must be transported by carrying the object around in both hands.
