There are a wide variety of landmarks that can be visited in Sand, however these can be split into distinct categories.

Towns are the most prominent point of interest in the game, with each town named and marked on the player map. All towns will have Upiors present and will have to be cleared out before any effective looting of the location can be done. Additionally, as of the October 2025 Playtest, all towns contain enough Red Barrels to be able to blow open all Red Barricaded Doors that can be found there.

Forts, like Towns, are also named and marked on the player map. Unlike towns these locations have significantly less to and occasionally no Upior spawns. These will mostly be surrounded by a mine field as well as many Forts being secured by two layers of large Red Barricaded Doors. These can be blown open by using explosives such as Mounted Weapons or Explosives, to gain access to the internals.

There are currently two Secret Locations that can appear in the game, The Dreadnaught and The Sandworm Pit. Both are present and discoverable on the map before the final storm closes in, but you will not be able to attain their high-tier loot spawns until then. These locations can be present on a map and not be the guaranteed final extraction point.
