Items are the various objects that players can collect while out on expedition. All items have a set of tags associated with them that group like items together. Ammunition is used in Weapons, Crafting Components are used for crafting, etc.

The tags are:

Items that are picked up by the player are carried around in the players inventory. Items come in two sizes, small and large, and can only fit into an item slot big enough for the item. This mostly comes into play when it comes to the large item slots in the players inventory reserved for specific kinds of items such as Weapons, Coats, and Backpacks. Almost all other items in the game are able to fit into the small item slots in the players inventory.

There are also a few special items that all players have access to thanks to them being permanent additions to their inventory.

Outside of the players inventory, all items are able to fit into Crates due to crates only having large item slots. Items may also be dropped onto the ground at any time.

Items can be stacked up to a certain size depending on the item and where they are being stored. Small items inside the players inventory generally have very small stack sizes, only fitting a single item in some cases where as small items inside crates have stack sizes several times larger than those inside the players inventory. These stack sizes are further increased for locked crates that require Keys to open (such as the Military Crate and Utility Crate) compared to regular crates. Large items do not stack with each other and take up the full inventory slot regardless of what they are stored in. For long term storage while on expedition, it is much more space efficient for players to store items inside crates on their Tramplers cargo racks than on their person.

Carryables(name pending) also exist, although these objects are too large to fit into any inventory slot, and instead must be transported by carrying the object in both hands.
